The PGA Tour Week at Fazio Canyons Now Carries Local Names

The PGA Tour arrives at Fazio Canyons on Nov. 9 under a different name from the one it was announced with a year ago. The national golf brand on the original sign is gone. In its place is the name of the city, the name of the resort, and a set of hospitality tents named for Austin landmarks. The event was planned as a showcase for a YouTube golf company. By the time the field tees off, it will look much more like Barton Creek's own tournament.

How the Name Came Off

The PGA Tour announced the event on Oct. 20, 2025, as the Good Good Championship. It was a multi-year partnership with Good Good Golf, with Omni Hotels & Resorts as partner and host venue. Tyler Dennis, the Tour's chief competitions officer, said in that release that the Tour was "proud to return to the great city of Austin for the first time since 2023." That earlier event was the 2023 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play at Austin Country Club, which KXAN reported ended after that edition.

Ten months later, the plan changed. Here is the sequence:

  1. March 18, 2026. Tickets go on sale for the Good Good Championship, Community Impact reported.
  2. Aug. 27, 2026. Sports Business Journal reported that Good Good would no longer be title sponsor. According to the Tour's statement, it was Good Good's "decision to step away."
  3. Aug. 28, 2026. GOLF.com reported that the Tour had temporarily renamed the event the Austin Championship.
  4. Oct. 13, 2026. SBJ reported that the Tour was still talking with potential title sponsors. SBJ also noted that the tournament had released a new logo and put tickets on sale for the Austin Championship the week before.

SBJ linked Good Good's exit to the fallout from a driver ad it made with Callaway. The same report said the Tour had been seeking about $5 million to $6 million a year on a deal of at least two years. It also put the late search in context: the last PGA Tour event played without a title sponsor was the 2019 Houston Open.

What Filled the Space

The official Austin Championship site now lists Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa as "Title Sponsor." Visit Austin's event listing calls the tournament "presented by" Omni. Neither page says when that designation was made, and it appeared after SBJ's Oct. 13 report of an open search. The resort's exact role may still be settling. Either way, the name at the top of the page now belongs to the property at the end of Barton Club Drive.

The premium seating carries local names too. The tournament's hospitality lineup includes:

  • Longhorn Lodge
  • SoCo Suites
  • Waterloo Lofts
  • Capital City Cabanas
  • Lady Bird Landing
  • Choctaw Club
  • Hill Country Cabanas

That page still sends inquiries to a goodgoodchampionship.com email address. It's a small sign of how late the rename came.

The charity side changed as well. The tournament site names Play Yellow as primary beneficiary of the 2026 Austin Championship. The official charity page features Folds of Honor alongside it.

The Course Was Already Ready

The sponsor fell through, but the venue never changed. Fazio Canyons is the reason the Tour chose Barton Creek in the first place, and the resort had prepared it years before anyone booked a tournament.

Omni reopened Fazio Canyons on Oct. 18, 2022, after a seven-month, $5 million renovation. The work added tee boxes and bunkers, rebuilt the greens for playability and changed the irrigation. Toptracer technology went in at the driving range. The PGA Tour's announcement noted that Tom Fazio played a significant role in restoring the course he first designed in 1999.

The layout plays 7,433 yards at par 72. It runs past limestone cliffs and along Short Spring Branch, among red oaks and sycamores. It is a course many in the neighborhood know from regular play. On television, viewers will see it with grandstands and ropes.

The stakes are real. The field is 120 players. The winner earns 500 FedExCup points, and Community Impact reported a $6 million purse. The event is part of the FedExCup Fall, and Community Impact described it as the second-to-last event in that series.

The Week Itself

The tournament runs Nov. 9 to 15 at 8212 Barton Club Dr. The Official Pro-Am is on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The public days are Thursday through Sunday, and prices rise toward the weekend.

Day Date General admission
Thursday Nov. 12 $80
Friday Nov. 13 $90
Saturday Nov. 14 $120
Sunday Nov. 15 $100
Weekly pass Nov. 11–15 $350

Saturday is the most expensive day, $40 more than Thursday. That makes the weekly pass a close call. It costs $350 and adds Wednesday's Pro-Am, while all four public days bought separately come to $390. Children 12 and under get in free with a ticketed adult, up to two per adult. Youth admission covers public venues and walking the course along the ropes, but not the hospitality venues. Tickets are sold through the official ticket page.

Parking, shuttle and gate-time details belong on the tournament site, so check it the night before you go. If you're coming in from the north, the Loop 360 work between Bold Ruler Way and the Pennybacker Bridge has the mainlanes down to one lane in each direction. TxDOT expects construction there to continue through late 2026.

The tournament also needs volunteers. Roles range from tracking statistics to greeting guests and helping with on-course operations, and registration is on the volunteer page.

The Resort Calendar Around It

With Omni's name now on the tournament, its event calendar is worth a look too. The golf week falls in a stretch of resort programming that runs from Halloween to January. Omni's upcoming events page marks two November dates as open to the public:

  • Madisen's Match, Saturday, Nov. 7, 9 a.m. A tennis event featuring Mike and Bob Bryan, Tom Gullikson, Denis Kudla and Ryan Harrison.
  • The Austin Championship, Nov. 9 to 15. The tournament itself.

Other listings around the tournament don't say whether non-guests can attend, so call the resort before planning around them:

  • Halloween Spooktacular, Oct. 30 to Nov. 1. Crafts, a poolside movie and resort-wide trick-or-treating.

  • Potions Class, Saturday, Oct. 31, 2 to 4 p.m. A ticketed session at Blind Salamander Kitchen & Bar with a Butterbeer Old Fashioned and a Felix Felicis Fizz.

  • Blitzen's, Nov. 20 to Jan. 10. A seasonal pop-up bar in Jim Bob's Lobby Lounge with holiday cocktails and live music from local artists on Fridays and Saturdays.

  • December Snow Shows and Breakfast with Santa. Snow Shows run Thursday through Saturday evenings, 6 to 7 p.m. Breakfast with Santa is Dec. 5, 12 and 19, 9 to 11 a.m.

From the Spooktacular on Oct. 30 to Blitzen's last night on Jan. 10, that comes to more than ten weeks of programming at one property, with the PGA Tour week spanning its second and third weeks.
